Prosetry, Please Contest by #LITplease:iconLITplease:

Contest Winners

There were nearly 50 entries to the contest, which means it was very difficult to narrow down the list to clear-cut first, second, and third place winners. So, we didn't! While there was a clear first place winner, the judges could not agree on just one winner for second and third respectively. Instead, we have three honourable mentions that will receive the second place prize (which, ultimately, was the same as third place anyway).

All that business out of the way, it's time to reveal our winners:

1st Place

Andromeda and the Dying Sun by osiristhrasher06

osiristhrasher06 will receive a 3 month subscription from leoraigarath, a 1 month subscription and critique from mode-de-vie, a feature on The Lit List from ATrue, a feature from DailyLitDeviations in their daily news article and their "Pick of the Day," as well as journal features from ATrue, musicalgenius321, bekkia, mode-de-vie, Irrevocablefate, leoraigarath, Mattiello, StJoan, and poprocksandcharlotte.

Honourable Mentions

Untitled by amaryllisHakatri
elegy in c minor by livexforxliars
simplistic love ballad by corina90

All three of these entrants will receive journal features from ATrue, musicalgenius321, bekkia, mode-de-vie, Irrevocablefate, leoraigarath, Mattiello, StJoan, and poprocksandcharlotte:.

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to everyone who participated! We here at LITplease are ecstatic at the success of the first ever joint contest between PoetryPlease and ProsePlease. Stay tuned...there's more to come from both clubs and plenty going on right now!

Original Contest Info

ProsePlease and PoetryPlease are back together! The clubs have been unaffiliated for some time now, but they are finally joining forces again! To start things off, they are doing a sister club kick-off contest!

About the Contest

The theme of the contest is Prosetry. This contest is for anyone in DeviantArt. Because this is a joint effort, the administrative base for the contest will be LITplease; please watch it to keep up with contest updates. If you want to join either PoetryPlease or ProsePlease, you can send your join notes to either or both (not to LITplease).

The contest title, as you already know, is "Prosetry, Please" and no, that’s not just a catchy title. The style you are being asked to write in is called prosetry. No idea what that is? Take a look at this example of prosetry!

Wanderlust by conorschild

Still confused? Well, a basic definition is this: Prosetry is literature primarily written in prose form with poetic language. Most prosetry has a very surreal quality. Prosetry is not written entirely in poetic form though it may have moments of this form as can be seen in the examples provided.

So, you’ve heard our definition of prosetry--now on to the rules:

General Rules

1. All entries must be sent into LITplease.
2. Anyone can participate, even people who are not members (but you might as well join since we totally rock!)
3. Prize donators can enter, but judges can’t.

Deviations:

1. You may only submit one deviation of no more than 2500 words.
2. Your deviation must be new as of June 1, 2009
3. You must categorize your deviation under Prose > Fiction > Perspectives (this is the most appropriate category and we don’t want to clutter other galleries)
4. To submit your deviation, send it to LITplease with the title “Prosetry Entry” with a link to your piece in the body.

Deadlines:

1. Entries will not be accepted until July 1, 2009, so get your entries nice and clean before you submit it! :D
2. The last day for submissions is July 31, 2009 (Two months from the opening of the contest, enough time to get those fantastic submissions polished and gorgeous!)

Judges

musicalgenius321, atrue, mode-de-vie, mattiello, poprocksandcharlotte, and leoraigarath.
