We only have a few submission rules, but we are strict about following them. Please read the following rules before you proceed:

:bulletblack: You may only submit something to our gallery if it was written specifically for one of our prompts. General or random submissions are not accepted.

:bulletblack: All submissions must have a line in the deviation comments indicating which prompt the piece is intended for, preferably with a link.

Current Prompt

:new:POETRY #15: Kitchen Drama

Have you tried cooking a dish? Well there are a lots of steps involved - from preparing and cutting the ingredients, to actually cooking it.

But have you ever thought about what these ingredients feel when they undergo these steps? Imagine a potato, moments away from being sliced? Would it shout? Cry? What would it feel and say?

This is the topic for the 15th poetry prompt.

1. For this exercise, we will focus with personification where we give traits and feelings to non-living objects.

2. Have a particular dish in mind. Select one of its ingredients. Your selected ingredient will be your voice in the poem. Write using the first person.

3. Take note of the these general steps in cooking. These steps will guide you as to the progression of your poem.

a. Before preparation - when your selected ingredient is still whole and untouched. What is your ingredient anticipating?
b. Preparation - when your selected ingredient will undergo slicing, cutting, mashing, chopping. Would it feel pain?
c. Cooking - when your selected ingredient will be fried, boiled, sauteed, poached, heated in the microwave.
d. Finished product - when your selected ingredient is ready to be served. Would it feel happy doing its purpose? Would it feel robbed of its right to exist?

4. You can choose any form of poetry and use any number of stanzas, as long as the steps mentioned above is shown.

5. Highlight what your selected ingredient would feel. Make it dramatic and do it with flair.

Deadline of submissions is on the 15th of May. The featured piece will be chosen from 16th to 19th. A new prompt will also be posted in the said period.
