About the Prompts

The prompts are here for your inspiration and are intended to encourage you to write something new. There are always a variety of prompts to choose from, either current poetry, fiction, and nonfiction prompts or archived ones. Every month, the prompt admin who posted the currrent topic chooses one entry to feature, earning you a spot in our exclusive Featured Gallery!

We only have a few submission rules, but we are strict about following them. Please read the following rules before you proceed:

:bulletblack: You may only submit something to our gallery if it was written specifically for one of our prompts. General or random submissions are not accepted.

:bulletblack: All submissions must have a line in the deviation comments indicating which prompt the piece is intended for, preferably with a link.

:bulletblack: Your entry is only eligible to be featured if you write and submit your deviation on time for a current prompt. Archived prompts are, however, always open for submission.

:new:POETRY #17: The Muse

We all have our inspirations when writing. It may be a strong emotion, a picture or a memory of a fragment of the past.

Also, it may be someone that has a strong effect on us. Someone that we know we can surely draw out inspiration from. We call it the muse.

Now, this is your task for LITplease's 17th poetry prompt.

1. Think of one of your muses. Someone that really makes you inspired to write.

2. Put yourself in his or her position. What does your muse thinks when he/she knew that you were writing about him/her? What do you think is the feeling when your muse knew that your poem is for him/her? Think about your muse reading that poem: what would be his/her reaction?

Write about it.

3. Write with the voice of your muse in first person.

Deadline of submissions is on the 27th of July. The featured piece will be chosen from 28th to 30th. A new prompt will also be posted in the said period.

In our piece, can we include the poem that the muse inspired, or limit to desription and the muse' reaction?
